Story - Marilyn K. - as told to Holly Poole.
Marilyn had been going through about a month and a half of intense pain. She kept it to herself mostly, but consulted another friend who had been going through a similar experience. She told the friend that if there wasn’t a miracle from God after a week then she would seek medical help, but she had faith that God would heal her. Another friend of Marilyn’s had been persistently asking her to attend Monday Night Prayer at The Harbor Church. Since her friend was so adamant about her going, she decided to go despite her busy schedule. She believed God for a miracle. She went and asked that fellow believers would pray for a creative miracle.
Marilyn shared that after that experience, she had to rebuke the pain every time it would briefly come back to her. She would remind herself that she had put all her faith in God, that he healed her that night and would continue to heal her. This happened for a while - the pain would start to come back and she’d have to say, “No, I believe that I was healed and I rebuke this pain.” Marilyn says, “I think God wanted me to know how much power there is in rebuking… If you don’t walk in divine healing, your life starts getting messed with. I am a firm believer that we have the right to be healed and stay healed, we are meant to be healthy and financially healthy. We should be walking in our inheritance. My pursuit now is to seek how I can walk in that inheritance.” To this day, she is pain-free.
She says that God was also showing her that there is power in congregation. She states: “I knew that I had the faith for a miracle even before I went to Monday Night Prayer, but I do believe there are places where we need the body of Christ… For whatever reason, it may be to build my faith or another's faith but something changed me that night in prayer that didn’t happen outside of it.” We see that sometimes God performs these miracles to be witnessed whether it be a display of His glory or the building of faith for another. He also has appointed people with the gifts of healing so that they can be his hands.
James 5:14 says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”
